Dr. Peter Oshin, MD Oshin MD, Doctor of Medicine (MD)

Peter Oshin, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist with more than 20 years of experience diagnosing and treating a broad range of gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary conditions. His clinical practice focuses on disorders of the digestive tract including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), intestinal diverticulitis, biliary disease, and hemorrhoidal conditions.

Dr. Oshin is proficient in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening and polyp removal, as well as endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for the management of bile duct and pancreatic disorders. He emphasizes early detection, minimally invasive treatment, and long-term disease management to help patients achieve optimal digestive health.

His passion for gastroenterology was influenced by his own experience with a gastrointestinal condition as a teenager, which instilled a deep understanding of the patient perspective. He is committed to a whole-person approach to care—looking beyond symptoms to understand underlying causes and comorbidities. “A patient’s care never starts nor ends with an endoscope,” he affirms. Dr. Oshin values patient education, shared decision-making, and continuity of care throughout each patient’s healthcare journey.

Dr. Oshin earned his medical degree from Chicago Medical School, followed by an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York. He completed his fellowship training in Gastroenterology at the University of Illinois. He is dual board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Oshin enjoys cycling, audio technology, computers, and the arts. He resides locally with his wife—an obstetrician—and is a proud father.
